Activities & trips

It doesn’t matter if you are interested in history, culture or nature – South Africa has plenty to offer. Some highlights are for example the “Castle of Good Hope”, the SA National Art Gallery, the Greenmarket, the Two-Oceans-Aquarium and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront

The guesthouse “Casa Sauvignon” provides you not only with South African hospitality, a homelike comfort and a great service but also with a stunning surrounding!

Due to its central location you can reach immediately the most beautiful places of South Africa like the Winelands, the Garden Route, the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Town, Stellenbosch and so on.

Golf

There is hardly any other country praising the golf as much as South Africa does. Just in and around Somerset West there are seven golf courses. One of the loveliest golf links with a wonderful view of the Table Mountain is to be found in Blouberg Strand. The place is extremly well-kept and on short call.

The most beautiful end of the world - Cape Town

A metropolis of the world looking for the likes of her- multicultural, colourful, festive and surrounded by a unique scenery is the way in which this 3,5 million inhabitants counting town presents herself. The Table Mountain with an hight of about 1000 metres is one of the most pictured emblems of the world.

Rainbowtown, Mothertown, Capetown – the lightness of being is embodied in this town through the diversity of its people, its location close to the Atlantic Ocean and the town’s landmark, the Table Mountain!

The “Big Five”

For some visitors of South Arfica it is the lions, leopards, rhinoceros, buffalos and elephants that are the main reason for traveling through this extraordinary country! Beside the worldfamous Kruger National Park there are also beautiful privat wildlife parks in which you may experience South Africas feral animals. Your guesthouse will be pleased to help you with your organisation.

For a day trip to the "Big five" to for example Aquila you need approximately two hours driving time. If you like to travel to the Kalahari or the Addo-Elephantpark we will be glad to advise you and help you with your organisation. For the Kruger National Park you need a malaria prophylaxis.

The Winelands

Due to about 300 days of sun in the region of Cape Town the Huguenots started over 200 years ago to grow wine. Today wine cellars like Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl are world-famous for their great wines. Top restaurants spoil your palate. You may also convince yourself of the quality of these manufactures in your "Casa Sauvignon".
A spectacular mountain road, the Franschhoek Pass takes you into the winelands with the attractive towns Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. The visit of a Wine-Estate like „Boschendal" is a must-see and a sensous festivity! In spitting distance of your guesthouse is the oldest and most famous wine-growing estate "Vergelegen" located.

Whales

Every year the largest sea mammals of the world come to the False Bay during the months September, October and November. You can see whales directly from the beach not far from Somerset West in Hermanus. There has been an interdiction on whaling in South Africa for some decades already that is the reason why so many of the gigants have become very trusting.

Nature & beaches

Long, breathtaking sandy beaches and high mountain chaines with cleft dales, sunny vineyards and the endless Bushveld - these are the prominent features of the Cape region.
If you take varied and splendidly constructed mountain passes you will explore the unending and diverse beauty of the nature.

Your “Casa Sauvignon”

It is a pleasure for us to help with words and deeds. The Cape region offers not only spectacular hiking trails for people who are interested in sports but also the oportunity to do aquatics like diving, shark diving, surfing as well as riding horses, playing golf or biking
